Command Reference

Every command available in StarMUD. Type help in-game for a quick summary.

Movement 8
north / n
south, east, west, up, down
Move in a direction. You can also use single letters: n, s, e, w, u, d.
Also: northeast, northwest, southeast, southwest
go <direction>
Alternative way to move. Useful for unusual directions.
Example: go north
Look & Info 8
look / l
examine
Describe the current room, its exits, NPCs, and items on the ground.
look <target>
Examine a specific NPC, item, or player in the room.
Example: look pirate scout or look blaster
score / sc
Display your full character stats — race, class, level, XP, HP, attributes, credits, and location.
inventory / inv / i
List everything you're carrying along with current weight and credits.
equipment / eq
Show what you have equipped in each slot (weapon, armour, accessories).
ship
Display your ship's status — hull, shields, weapons, speed, fuel, and installed modules.
who
List all players currently online, along with their race, class, level, and location.
map
Show the current star system, its planets, and available warp routes.
Combat 3
kill <target>
attack, fight, hit
Engage an NPC in combat. Cannot be used in safe zones.
Example: kill pirate scout
attack / a
Strike your current combat target. Used each turn during active combat.
flee
Attempt to escape combat. 60% base success rate. Pilots have higher odds. Smokescreen ability boosts this to 90%.
Abilities & Training 4
abilities / ab
powers, skills
List your available abilities with cooldowns, energy costs, and active buffs.
ability <name>
cast, psi, tech, activate
Use an ability. Some can only be used in combat.
Example: ability mind blast or cast heal
train
When standing near a trainer NPC, show the list of abilities they can teach you and their training point cost.
learn <ability>
Spend a training point to learn an ability from a nearby trainer.
Example: learn assault strike
Items 10
get <item>
take, pick
Pick up an item from the ground.
Example: get blaster or get all
drop <item>
Drop an item from your inventory onto the ground.
equip <item>
wear, wield
Equip a weapon or armour piece from your inventory.
Example: equip plasma blade
unequip <slot>
Remove an equipped item and return it to your inventory.
Slots: weapon, chest, head, legs, hands, feet, accessory
use <item>
eat, drink, inject
Use a consumable item such as a stim pack or medkit.
Example: use stim pack
appraise <item>
Inspect a flux-charged item's hidden stat bonuses. The depth of info depends on your class, level, and TEC score. Scoundrels (lv 5+), Psionics (lv 8+), and Androids (innate) can appraise.
Example: appraise knife
engrave <item>
Permanently imprint a flux item's stats so anyone can see them without appraise skill. Requires Improved Appraise and 15 energy.

examine <item>
Examine an item closely. For flux-charged items, shows stat properties based on your appraise skill.
get <item> corpse
Loot a specific item from a corpse. Use get all corpse to loot everything at once.
Example: get all corpse or get blaster corpse
addstat <STAT>
At a trainer: spend a pending bonus stat point to permanently raise a base stat. Stats cannot exceed racial maximum. Bonus points are earned through high LUK on level-up.
Stats: PWR REF END SYN TEC LUK — Example: addstat PWR
Shopping 3
list
shop, wares
List the items available from a nearby shopkeeper NPC, along with prices and stock.
buy <item>
Purchase an item from a nearby shopkeeper. Ships and modules are also bought this way.
Example: buy stim pack or buy shuttle
sell <item>
Sell an item from your inventory to a shopkeeper for half its value.
Travel 6
transporter
When standing on a transporter pad, show available destinations and their credit cost.
transport <dest>
Beam to a transporter destination. Costs credits.
Example: transport nova_prime
launch
Leave the planet surface and enter orbit. Required before warping. You need a ship.
land <planet>
Land on a planet in the current system.
Example: land luna_base
warp
Show available warp destinations from the current system and their fuel costs. Must be in orbit.
warp <system>
Warp to another star system. 35% chance of a space combat encounter en route.
Example: warp kepler7 or warp arcturus
Space Combat 2
fire
Fire your ship's weapons at the enemy vessel during a space combat encounter.
evade
Attempt to break off a space combat engagement. Pilots have a significantly higher success rate.
Social 3
say <message>
Speak aloud. All players in the same room will hear you.
Example: say Hello, is anyone there?
tell <player> <msg>
Send a private message to another online player regardless of their location.
Example: tell Darren heading to Nova Prime now
emote <action>
Perform an action visible to everyone in the room.
Example: emote waves at the guard suspiciously
Miscellaneous 3
password
Change your account password. You will be prompted for your current password first.
help / ?
Display the in-game help summary with all commands grouped by category.
quit
Save your character and disconnect. Your character is also auto-saved every 60 seconds.
Immortal Commands 18
goto <target> Immortal
Teleport to a player name, room ID, VNUM number, or NPC name.
Example: goto 1000 or goto Darren
restore [all/name] Immortal
Restore HP and energy to full. Use restore all for all online players or a name for one.
summon <player> Immortal
Pull an online player to your current location.
pstat <player> Immortal
Full stats for an online player — PWR/REF/END/SYN/TEC/LUK, derived stats, inventory, equipment, skills.
nstat <npc> Immortal
Full stats for a live NPC — HP, damage, armour, equipped items, generated loot.
ostat <item> Immortal
Inspect an item template by name or ID.
buff <player> <ability> Immortal
Cast any ability on an online player without energy cost.
slay <npc> Immortal
Instantly kill an NPC in the current room.
kick <player> Implementor
Force-disconnect a player, saving their character first. Use to clear stuck ghost sessions.
peace Immortal
End all active combat in the current room.
invis [level] Immortal
Go invisible. Optional level makes you invisible only to players below that level.
Example: invis (full) or invis 20 (hidden from <level 20)
vis Immortal
Become fully visible again.
gotomsg [msg] Immortal
Set a custom arrival message when using goto. Use {name} as a placeholder.
clog [rank] Immortal
View the immortal command log. Restricted by rank — immortals can't see deity/admin logs.
setlevel <p> <n> Immortal
Set a player's level.
fluxlist Deity
Scan the entire world for all flux-charged items — shows location, stats, and engraved status.
promote <p> <rank> Deity
Promote or demote an online player. Ranks: none, immortal, deity, admin.
Example: promote Darren immortal
zones Immortal
List all loaded zones with VNUM ranges and room counts.
